Money’s not Everything
We live in an era with some attitudes about money and career holding over from earlier decades. You may have picked up on the idea that a career should always move in a straight upward line. You start out near the bottom in a job with adequate pay. Over the years, you get promotions that give you more responsibility and higher pay. That.s how they portray things in TV shows and maybe that used to be the case.
Today, things are different. It.s totally fine to take a new job for less money than you earned in your last job. Who ever said your income had to increase every year for the rest of your life? After all, what you want to do in two years may be completely different than what you do today. It.s OK to start at a lower level again to satisfy your true interests as you figure out what they really are.
For example, if you.re a corporate type, you will learn skills and knowledge that you then can put to use in non-profit organizations that may bring you closer to your passions. So, if you think you may want to do something more worthwhile than simply earning a higher salary next year, consider a fresh start on a new career. There is no shame in it, especially if you get a ton more happiness and excitement on a daily basis doing something new.
