Saying Goodbye
Making a move? The hardest part may be saying goodbye to friends. In order to make a healthy and positive transition, take an opportunity to spend some quality time with each of your closest friends -whether it is one last shopping trip, going to a concert or a celebration dinner. Don't avoid talking about the move. Sharing all your apprehension, reservations, excitement and enthusiasm will lighten your load.
Let yourself feel whatever you are feeling. Don't try to bottle up any anxiety or stress or put on a brave face when you're around friends and family. But, remember, these emotions, as real as they are, are temporary. When you settle in to your new school, you'll begin to feel a lot better about your new life.
Still you may want to have a packing party with friends before you go. Getting them involved in your move may help make the goodbye that much easier.
Though you may feel some intense sadness when you're saying goodbye, remember that a move isn't necessarily permanent. You're saying good-bye for now, but you'll definitely see each other again.
