If you can make it in kindergarten, you can make it anywhere!
Starting a new school may remind you of starting kindergarten, where you didn't know anyone and everywhere you went felt unfamiliar. And just like kindergarten, the best way to start feeling comfortable at a new school is to make new friends.
For many students, the first friend they meet is the classmate sitting at the next desk. If you feel comfortable with this person, make an effort to get to know him or her early on. Have conversations that will help you learn more about each other or make plans to hang out socially beyond the classroom.
Fortunately, there are lots of other ways to meet people. At the beginning of the year, all sorts of organizations, from student government groups to co-ed, intramural sports teams, will be looking for new members. Participating in activities you enjoy will automatically match you up with students who share common interests. Sign up and make some connections!
